Hi, Jeff!
We tested support of format FDI by software HxCFloppyEmulator (the last beta version v1.6.6.0a). Everything, except formatting function in "pure" TR-DOS, works correctly. All is normally read and running(started), including some protected disks. A problem with command
FORMAT in early and original versions TR-DOS (© 1986 Techology Research Ltd., versions 5.03, 5,04 and some other), unfortunately, and remains. At formatting from these versions TR-DOS the image for some reason is considered as one-sided (SS) though at directory reading (
LIST,
CAT) and at start of programs no problems arise, the disk is considered double-side (DS). And we have 1264/1264 sectors (SS), instead of expected 2544/2544 of sectors. If to use later versions TR-DOS where the formatting subroutine is changed, or other (indirect/foreign) programs of formatting - all is normal. We receive 2544/2544 sectors and what or problems with this image afterwards do not arise. Files normally register in it. Then they are correctly displayed and then, started. I.e. similar problems are watched with any images for ZX-Spectrum: TRD, SCL, FDI and TD0, if it converted from TRD-image with the console utility
TRX2X, which allows convert from/in formats: UDI, TRD, SCL, FDI, TD0, FDD, hobeta.
Jean Francois, whether probably to solve this problem? Or we simply make a stipulation (remark) that emulator operation is guaranteed with the last versions TR-DOS v6.0x/v6.1x (with the corrected subroutine of formatting), or it is necessary to use outside programs for formatting.
