Hello All,
Just installed the Gotek last night. There are a few blank disks on the USB already and they are able to be read. I'm trying to use the software to create new disks but when I do, the S950 says the disk is unformatted and doesn't load what I put on it. Also, I'm curious as to how we use the software to see what is on various .hfe files, how do we open them to make edits? If there is a PDF for instructions/explanations you can point me to that would be awesome.
Thanks,

Re: HxC Software - Creating/Reading .hfe files for S950
Hi - I'm kind of in the same boat as the OP. I realize this thread is a couple years old but I'll add onto where they left off.
I've just installed a Gotek floppy drive emulator into my S900 and my screen says "FlashFloppy V3.29" when I switch it on without the thumb drive.
I have followed the basic instruction that came with the drive but there are a lot of files I'm not sure what to do with. I've copied the FF.CFG file into the root directory and I have been able to load a few samples but I'm very new to the S900 so I haven't been able to do much with them yet.
There are two files in a directory called "OS" in the Zip files that came with the drive... <Akai S900 OS v2.1_img.hfe> and <Akai S900 OS v4.0_img.hfe> and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with them.
There is also a series blank disk images...<DSKA0000.HFE, DSKA0001.HFE, DSKA0003.HFE> etc that came with the emulator. I'm assuming that if I add them to the USB stick they will show up as blank disks. Also there is a <duplicator.BAT> file that I'm assuming is to create more blank disk images in Windows.
I'm also unsure about the mechanics of the Gotek interface. It seems like the dial is not fully functioning on the Gotek but I'm not certain. This Gotek has the up & down buttons as well as a continuous dial but so far only the push function is working on the dial as I've only been able to scroll through the menu with the up/down buttons. If it's not working I'm sure I can get by with just the buttons. Perhaps it's in need of a firmware update but I wanted to figure out the basic stuff before starting to update any firmware.
So if you happen to see this and can fill in any of the blanks for me I would be grateful. Thank you and kind regards, Howard B.

If your S900 doesn't have an internal OS ROM, you'll need to boot from one of these OS images every time you turn on the sampler.Bio-Rhythm wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 10:25 am Hi - I'm kind of in the same boat as the OP. Right... At first I thought it was retaining the patch but it was just the default sine wave that loads up when turning it on.
I did manage to get it working properly except only the push button works on the continuous dial but I can at least still navigate through the up/down buttons.

I misunderstood your reply before. The S900 does have an internal ROM. It boots up no problem without the thumbdrive in the Gotek. I thought you meant if it doesn't retain the sample last loaded which it doesn't but the internal operating software does load up automatically so I'm assuming it does have ROM chip.
