Two drives for PC8801

Post by arjen »

Hi

When connecting the HxC to the PC8801 I was not able to use both the A and B drive. The PC8801 has two connectors, one for the A drive and one for the B drive. The solution was to connect the HxC to the drive A connector and run one wire from the B drive pin 10 (motor A enable) to the B drive pins on the HxC.

Yes Namida88 have reported this here too :

The two floppy disk connector are in fact the same floppy disk bus.

Hi Jeff

Sorry I did not find that... The search function does not work so well in this forum. If i search for PC88 or PC-88 or CP/M or CPM I can not get any results...

No problem , yours pictures are good. I just point the Namida88 post to associate this 2 thread.

For the search problem, i see this. Probably a problem during the phpBB migration...

Hi,

I have a revision F SD HxC from Lotharek. I'm trying to put this into a PC-8801 MA but the revision F HxC has DIP switches instead of jumpers.

Any idea how I should connect Drive B pin 10 to the HxC?

Thanks.

Please excuse the newbie question, but does it matter which side or which pin?

Any one of the 4 pins (drive B), the side turned toward the board border.

Hi

I recently bought a PC-8801FH and I'd like to use a single HxC emulator for both drives but I'm confused by this thread. Would the HxC Max work for this, and if so how would I do it since it only has the 34 pin connector and DIP switches? Otherwise I'll look into one of the other HxC models.

Hi guys.

I use a HxC MAX for my PC-8801 MKII SR with 2 drives emulation and works perfectly.
I use also a special connector that I bought in Yahoo Japan Auctions.
The DIP SWITCHES configuration of the HXC MAX must be: 1 & 7 ON, the rest off.
You can find more information on the following links

Hope this help.
