a500 internal HxC - can´t update + bad config file

Post by Geldbobdoof »

Hi, im new to this disk emulating stuff, sorry if this is a stupid question:
i got an internal HxC usb drive as a replacement for my broken disk drive, together with a preformatted usb stick from amigastore.eu.
Replacing the drive worked fine, and it is booting from the stick, but then i get a message that the firmware needs to be updated, and when i press enter, a message appears that says the config file is bad.

I downloaded the firmware from https://hxc2001.com/floppy_drive_emulato ... reForGotek and used the procedure as it is described.
when i press both buttons whie turning on the amiga the lcd display says "upd", but then it just boots and i get the same message as before, so for some reason the update doesn´t seem to happen.
i also tried using the 3 different preconfigured config files "normal" "autoboot" etc, but that doesn´t help either.

i hope this makes somehow sense, maybe im overseeing something totally obvious?

Hi,
1) Please verify if You have a REAL HXC FIRMWARE and NOT a Free Firmware... Because AmigaSore.eu asked You to choose HXC or FF ...
This firmware update IS ONLY For HXC Firmware OF COURSE...

2) Use the latest HXC Firmware on the actual Website : https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_dri ... index.html

3) Please identify Your Hxc drive : because there is different HXC Drive

If it's a Gotek HXC Drive : https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_dri ... rmware.zip

The latest GOTEK FIRMWARE is : HxCFEUSB_V3_4_15_2a.UPD.

Please Read again : https://hxc2001.com/docs/gotek-floppy-e ... -firmware/

Try it again (firmware Update).... After that... When It will be done...

Into the archive file (ZIP) go the Sub Directory FIle_Selector
go the Sub Directory Amiga
Copy both files (Autoboot.hfe & HXCSDFE.cfg on the root of USB Key (FAT32 FORMAT).
Reboot You Amiga and on the kickstart choose 000 If You only have 3 digits display or autoboot.HFE if You have an olded screen installed on Your Gotek drive.
Put Your ADF files & save and Exit
Your Gotek will reboot on 001 or filename If Oled Screen) on the first position in your Autoboot File...
That's all.
For more Help, please ask to JEFF The Creator of this Firmware...
Best Regards,
Pascal

Hi thank you both for your help.
You were right, the drive had Flashfloppy Firmware not the HxC, so basically i´m probably in the wrong forum.
As i told you, i have no clue.
but it works now.

merci!

Be aware that you can install the HxC firmware on this with just an USB stick ;).
