SQ-80 AND GOTEK PROBLEMS

Post by mindburner »

Hello all

I have got a gotek emulator with the oled display. My SQ80 will see the gotek but only after pressing the disk button on the SQ80 several times, usually there is a 'no disk' message. After another 10 button pushes it may get to loading a bank or it may fail.

jumper is set to S0

it's using .hfe files

I bough it from a seller, apparently pre-configured.

I also cannot format a blank slot. It tries but fails at sector 79
saving into an existing black slot also fails, with no disk

is there anything I can check

best regards
Alan

Ok then if you come here i suppose that you thought bought a Gotek HxC ? Unfortunately this is a counterfeit. Please report this seller if on ebay/amazon.

Fortunately this drive can be reflashed with a true HxC firmware with an usb stick. But you will have to get a license on this page :
https://hxc2001.com/store/

Then i will be able to provide support.

after registering I got a download link with instructions on how to flash the device.

I have a FTDI232 adapter, not sure if this is ok

connected it up but just get 'link is UP' message
checking connections.... and will try the reset trick

ah I have updated the device with the serial adapter 100/100 in status.

now Done (o units left)

however the oled display is now completely dead with nothing at all, UPDATE, this is due to really bad soldering to the display, now resoldered

Perfect ! :D

(About the file numbers i suppose that you are directly browsing the files on the stick ? In this mode there is no file numbering).
