Hi there,
i got a SD HxC Floppy Emulator Rev F.
Firmware version is v1.8.2.40 L:2A89.
In general it's working fine.
But I'm having problems installing MS DOS 6.22 from the HxC device.
As I'm using it in an IBM PC with twisted floppy cable and only want to have single drive A: I set DS2 to on.
Here's what I did:
- formatted SD card with FAT32
In Floppy Emulator software v2.15.1.2:
- set HFE file interface mode from "Auto" to "IBM PC 1.44MB"
- set SD HxC Floppy Emulator Interface setting for drive A from "From HFE" to "IBM PC HD"
- disabled 2 drives emulation
- saved config file to SD card
- then I loaded each DOS setup disk (.img format) and exported it as .hfe file to SD card
- put SD card into HxC device on DOS PC
The PC boots correctly from drive A: and is loading the DOS setup program. I can even start to install DOS. Everything works fine.
But when DOS setup routine is demanding disk #2 and I'm switching to desired .hfe (2nd DOS install disk), DOS setup routine can't find disk #2.
Seems like switching to next disk does not work inside DOS setup.
It doesn't matter if I'm using normal or indexed mode.
On a DOS command prompt switching from disk#1 to disk#2 works without problems.
I checked this with "dir" command.
Every disk has it's own different files on it.
The original .img files work on another PC with Gotek floppy.
So disk images can't be the problem.
Can somebody help me?
Problem with DOS installation
Re: Problem with DOS installation
Which HxC switches configuration are you using ?
Re: Problem with DOS installation
Hi Jeff,
I set ID1A (Switch 2) to on because I'm using a twisted floppy cable.

Re: Problem with DOS installation
I managed to get MS-DOS 6.22 working on my maschine with a quite dirty workaround.
Afterwards I installed a program consisting of 4 installation disks without any problems. Switching of the disks was recognized correctly inside setup program after the setup demanded to insert next disk.
I don't understand why MS-DOS 6.22 setup routine does not recognize "insertion" of next setup disk.
Has anyone had this problem (and a solution)?
