What cable for original IBM PC and floppy controller?

Post by spacecadet »

This is potentially a dumb question but I see people using the HxC with the IBM 5150 and I can't figure out what cable I need. The original IBM floppy controller has an edge connector and so do the drives; I've found some "universal" cables that have both edge connectors and 34 pin connectors for the drives, but they all seem to have 34 pin connectors for the controller too.

How are people physically connecting their HxC to the original IBM PC?

I did find a couple of possible cables on the Classic Computer Shop web site, but some have the cable twist and others don't, as seen here: http://www.minuszerodegrees.net/images3 ... wiring.jpg

Do I need that for using the HxC? I'm assuming the PC would be seeing it as a 5.25" drive, so I would?

Thanks...
