Unable to convert specific SCP with HxC software

Post by troed »

I built up a Greaseweazle the other day, and the first disk I wanted to preserve was my original copy of Audio Sculpture v1.3.

I'm unable to convert this .SCP to either .IPF (resulting file 13KB in size) nor .STX (segfaults (!), resulting file starts to boot, but fails the copy protection). A friend who's a Windows user tried using Aufit to convert the same .SCP to .STX though and that boots fine.

Since I'm on Linux/macOS I'm of course hoping to be able to use native tools. disk-analyse by the GW author isn't able to produce a working .IPF either so I'm somewhat sure the issue is with the AS original copy protection/disk format.

The image can be found here (also includes the data disc, which isn't protected, and that converts to .STX fine): https://troed.ddns.net/f/84faf6ffdab24a77a984/

I've tried using both with the latest macOS HxC software download, as well as compiling from source for Linux. Same behavior with both.

Troed

Awesome! Sure, here: https://troed.ddns.net/f/f7ecb0433c964b0abfb0/

The file without 'a' is the one from Aufit, the other stx was done on an ST with Pasti.

Thanks. The crash is fixed but i am not sure if the current STX conversion will work : there is a bunch of protections on these disks.
Anyway i would recommend another file format if you to be sure to be to restore the disk for the real machine.

btw i think that there is an hole on the second disk :
