HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
Got the new slim at the weekend and everything works OK, apart from virtual drive B. If I understand correctly you can have 2 virtual drives enabled A+B?
When I enable drive B, drive A keeps asking for the disk and if I boot from DF1: it loads the disk in DF0:.
Booting from the HD shows that both drives (A+B) have the same disk inserted even though slot 1, A+B, has 2 different disks.
The Slim is connected to a Amiga 600HD and the cable is standard Amiga.
To enable drive B I have switches 1+2 on, is this correct?
Do you have 'enable DF1' (F3 menu) on or off?
Arnie.

No, you should enable switches 1 & 5.
EDIT : Sorry it's : 1 & 6.

Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
Ok, 1&5 not working but, 1&6 is, to a point.
DF1: is only accessible from the early boot menu and only then if a disk is inserted into slots A+B.
You can boot from DH0: DF0: or DF1: from the early boot menu but, once in Workbench, if you change to a slot that only has a disk in slot A, then DF1: reports DF1:????.

Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
Small update, I noticed that if I physically remove the HD then everything works 100%, reattach the HD and DF1:/B does not show up.
Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
Sort of got a work around to this problem by deleting the Startup-sequence from the Autoboot.hfe and force loading it on start-up. With the card permanently in the slot, both drives A+B are accessible from the WorkBench without using the early boot screen.
Can this be sorted by firmware upgrade?

Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
I have been using my HxC Slim for 3 months already and everything went fine until I tried to do the similiar thing - to use A and B drives on my A600. My configuration is similar - A600 with CF card as hard drive, HxC Slim with jumpers 1. and 6. set on, nontwisted cable. Unfortunately only DF0 is detected. Unplugging CF card doesn't change anything - when I put Workbench disk in 1. slot in drive A and Extras in 1. slot in drive B only the first one is seen. What can I do?
Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
Any ideas?
Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
Please have a look to the "drive b" on/off option in the file selector.seldon wrote:Any ideas?
Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
By default it was off. Turning it on and off didn't change anything.
Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
In HxC manager I have this numbers:
Firmware: V2.0.1.3a
Ver 1.6b
Firmware: V2.0.1.3a
Ver 1.6b
Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
I have the same problem. HXC Slim ver 1.6b, Firmware V2.0.2.2
Non twisted cable. Switches 1 and 6 set to ON. In the settings DF1 is ON.
However, DF1 station is not visible in the workbench.

@All
File selector updated :
v1.7a :
https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_driv ... anager.zip
Please replace your autoboot.hfe + HXCSDFE.CFG.
(DF1 On/off switch corrected, some memory usage optimization, joystick control added...)
About the firmware the actual one is the 2.0.2.2 :

If needed please update to this version.

Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
No change for me, I still have to have a non booting Autoboot.hfe in df0: for DF1: to show up.
Re: HXC Slim drives A+B together on Amiga
For me HxC Manager doesn't start, instead I have error message from Amiga OS:
"SDHxCFloppySelector.amigados has a read error on disk block 965"
EDIT: After formatting the card and copying autoboot and cfg files now Manager starts and allows to select floppy images to slots, but now read errors appear during loading disk image and HxC Floppy Emulator seems to hang (LED lights constantly and pressing the button has no effect - no beeping indicating changing slots)
EDIT2: I don't know what caused this behaviour, as I changed firmware and floppy selector software at the same time. I can't even roll back to previous versions, as the firmware V2.0.1.3a was originally flashed to my device when I received it and also I don't have Floppy Selector Software 1.6b as I overwritten it with ver. 1.7a.
EDIT3: I have tried few different images - emulator hangs all the time.
