I am having trouble getting it to work into a external Amiga disk drive housing.
It does work if i put it inside the amiga but not when i use it in the housing.
Maybee this is just a jumper or config setting but the lack of a userguide for this model does not help me very much.
Anybody got some tips please?
I would love to use this device as external so i can use it on all my amiga's.
Problem with rev.F in external housing

Don't Blame the HxC but the Amiga designers. :DTention wrote:I am having trouble getting it to work into a external Amiga disk drive housing.

The DS0 signal is not present on external floppy port, so you cannot use any drive as DF0 on the external port without amiga motherboard modification.
It's only for DF1/DF2.
Re: Problem with rev.F in external housing
Hello Jeff,
Thanks for the reply, i don't blame anyone (maybee myself) i like the device.
The problem i have is that it also does work (or i just don't get it to) as df1.
Wasn't even thinking of getting the second drive to work but that would be nice also.
The cables in the external housings i tried (2) are not twisted, what jumper settings should i use?
I can't find any guide on the jumper settings for the rev.F product so any advice is much appreciated.

Re: Problem with rev.F in external housing
Hello Jeff, thanks for the reply....
I tried some more external housings and settings and now got it working as a single drive.
Jumpered it with id0 witch is the same as the original drive in the housing was.
Only problem i have is that i can not use the autoboot file on my A4000, it keeps hanging when it boots from it.
This may be because the drive gets mounted as df2: and i can not find a autoboot.hfe that supports that, i only
found 1 for df0: and 1 for df1:.
Is there a way to get this util also working on a drive that is marked as df2?
Or is there a standalone util that i can run after booting from my harddrive?

Re: Problem with rev.F in external housing
on the amiga 4000 df1: is reseved for internal use only, even if no second internal drive is used (i have just 1 internal).
If i connect a normal external diskdrive it will be addressed as df2: same as the HxC.
I also dont know of any boot switch for the 4000 so i could fool it in being a df0: or df1: so i could use the existing versions of the autoboot files.
I have not looked at the autoboot images yet but are these files editable so i can boot from it as df2:?
