Is there any way to have OSD on Atari ST on both COLOR and MONOCHROME modes?

I think that the 20x24 640x480 VGA mode (35khz compatible monochrome) should also work in color mode (15khz).

This should work for mono, but color modes and mono mode use different pins on monitor connector, and I'm afraid that voltage levels are too low to use a diode for separation.

Yes, it works, but it is impossible to make it work for both - color and mono monitor. Atari ST was using mono monitor for office and programming applications, and color monitor for games and demos, so many ST users had two monitors, and switch them depending on what software they wanted to work with. HxC OSD works fine with both monitors, but you have to decide with which you want to use it and wire it accordingly.

There is different solutions for this :

- Use a simple mechanical switch.
- Use an analog multiplexer based on the "mono detect" signal.
- Use a small relay controlled by the "mono detect" signal.
