Delay when choosing file and eject on startup ?

Post by chrisf »

hi
i have just installed the latest HxCFEUSB_V3_4_1_4a_OSD.UPD
the on screen display is working fine (amiga), just a few small issues i cannot resolve -

on startup the buttons on the gotek take a while to begin to work as does the rotary encoder
this is even worse when you have to swap disks in a game , it takes 10 seconds for the buttons or rotary encoder to start working , i can bring up the osd instantly with a push of the rotary encoder button . just nothting happens when turning the rotary encoder or pushing the built in buttons for 10 seconds

also i cannot find an option to not have it boot anything on startup , i would like no images untill i choose one ?

i was using flashf firmware but wanted your on screen display as it a nice feature , just these issues im trying to resolve which all worked fine before on the other firmware .

many thanks

10 seconds ? are you sure ? There is some others users using the osd version and i never got this feedback.
Can you make a video of the issue please ?

this is my rotary encoder wiring as its a bare unit , no board - https://ibb.co/gSjgTbW

here is a video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqGI5Mq8OfA

it does the same thing when you use the 2 buttons on the front of the gotek

ive just found if you rotate the encoder alot it then starts working and you dont have to wait ?
also if you press the buttons on the front of the gotek 4-5 times that makes it start scrolling through the list as well

so 1 turn or button press does nothing ,but turning lots of times or pressing the buttons 4-5 times the makes it work

This is the wake-up button filter enabled in OSD mode. Press one button one second . i will test this with the rotary.

using this HxCFEUSB_V3_4_1_4a.UPD makes the gotek buttons and the rotary encoder act like it should , so as you say its a problem with the OSD version

Attached the OSD version with the wake up timeout value reduced. Let me know if this is ok for you.

hi

this is a lot better :D

as long as i press the rotary encoder in first , i can then turn it and select images instantly :D

if i just turn the rotary encoder without pressing in first it takes 7 rotating clicks before it changes to the next file

thanks jeff :D

Ok. Btw you can lower a little bit the resistor value to increase the contrast if you want.

hi

im using a 200 ohms resistor as its the closest one i had , its tends to be harder to read when the screen is white.

Another question , is it possible to make the OSD wider so it can show more text and move it to the bottom of the screen ?

thanks

Both features are planned. The OSD move function first !

I have yet changed the rotary/keys behavior : https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_dri ... rmware.zip

Let me know if this is ok or not for you.
