Are you sure that you are on the right version ? (the version code is displayed without sdcard. You should have the V1.5.1.1A)

Can you post a picture of the Write gate line behaviour ? (no pull down on this line ?)

Can you post the hfe that you are using for the test ?

Also try to remove the 270 ohms pull up.

And if all previous points doesn't solve the problem, retry to write something at 250kbits/s (on a 250kbits/s HFE of course...)

SORD only works at 500kb/s. Maybe the Vectra can r/w 720MB disks (250kb/s) but I already tested it at 500 with a 1.44MB image a few days ago and was able to write to it. -b-

May I ask what adaptator you're using to connect the floppy cable to the HxC ?
Is the original drive an external 8" drive ? So is your cable a scsi like one ?
If so what is the brand/model of the drive you replaced ?

Thanks :o

by the way, great machine ! This is the first time I see this model.

As far i can see this is a hand made passive adapter.

I post some details that schadel send me by email :
I'll upload a small one and attach the large version here. Although you
can see an empty bay, the "B" drive is an 8" unit in a separate
enclosure. The 5.25" HD & 8" DD both use the same NEC 72065 FDC, but
they have separate drivers, receivers and cables. The computer controls
a scanning electron microscope used to measure critical dimensions on
75mm semiconductor wafers. The computer is behind the front panel so
that only the 8" drive is accessible to the user. To allow long file
names, the software uses two virtual drives of limited size on the HD
and one on the "B" drive. So the Floppy Emulator will replace the 8"
drive and accommodate many more application files.

The pinout at the drive end of the cable is different from any other
drive I could find documentation for. I had to trace signals back
through the drivers & receivers to correlate them with the known pinout
at the 5.25" drive.

Some mechanical work remains to be done but I will turn that over to
someone else. Power will be off in the lab this weekend. I don't know if
I will get a chance to take a better picture.

Thanks again,
