Some games not working, Gotek, Speccy +3, HxC

Post by atanquerel »

Hi,

Using Gotek with firmware v3.3.1.2a, some games don't load, but some do. Particularly "Rolling Thunder",

(+3 Disk Image)

I've tried the ones that don't load in FUSE and they are OK. Using default settings of drive, all else seems fine. Great product anyway, and great software!

The current firmware version is v3.4.15.2a.

Easy, with an usb stick. This is free if you already have the hxc firmware installed :

Wow! That was the easiest firmware update I've ever done on a device! Unfortunately, still no difference for these games :(
I've tried the Spectrum family, and the Shugart interface CFG as well as the default. Strange how these games load on the emulator?

I'm getting a feeling with this game it's something to possibly do with copy protection, found a similar thread:

Have you just tried to convert the DSK to HFE ? The conversion looks fine to me.
I am checking the DSK direct support in the firmware but the HFE version should works.

Hi, has the update been released since then? I ran into the same issue, although it's not urgent as the conversion to .hfe trick worked for me as well.

The new update V3.4.16.4a does fix some issues with some ZX Spectrum +3 .dsk games. However, I have a number of games that will cause the computer to reset either back to the 128K main screen or to the 48K screen! They all share the same behavior. These are:
Barbarian II, Dan Dare II, Dan Dare III, Double Dragon, Robocop and Turrican II.

Some other games show other types of errors like black screen or some weird patterns. These are
The New Zealand Story, Robocop II, Operation Thunderbolt, The Simpsons and The Untouchables 2 disk version (single disk version works fine).

Finally, I noticed that a couple of .dsk files will cause the Gotek to go into a seek loop: These are
Mega Box 1 and Rick Dangerous.

I hope you can fix these because there is no way to play this on a real ZX Spectrum +3 so far.
Thank you
