"Reading FAT..." - Freeze on USB-Stick Boot/Insert

Post by cold1ce »

Hello,

I have a GOTEK SFR1M2-FU (a supported device according to the list) on which I have flashed the bootloader and the latest firmware. This worked smoothly with USB cable and USB stick.

However, when I now insert the same fat-formatted USB stick (or any other) with a .hfe file and the CFG for normal mode, the emulator freezes and the display only says "Reading FAT ...". Then I can't do anything anymore, no button works, no unplugging of the USB stick but only disconnecting from power.

I have read that this problem can be due to the power supply. However, my multimeter shows me constantly ~5.1V. Interesting is that the system monitor shows 42°C and the voltage behind it is permanently at 18.7V without fluctuations.

I also tried to power the GOTEK with a USB cable (Red and Black wire 5V). Again it stops with "Reading FAT...". The system monitor still shows 18.7V.

I also reloaded the bootloader and firmware again.

The old CNC machine, for which there are no more spare drives (special drives from the Japanese area with 1.2MB 3.5inch 77 tracks 360 RPM were installed at that time) even recognizes the GOTEK, but cannot read from it either.

Can it be that my GOTEK itself is defective? What can I do?`

If I need to provide any information or files etc I am happy to do so at any time.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Please post a picture of the version sub menu (remove the stick and press both buttons to access the menu)

Its custom at the moment, but before it was the newest firmware (3.8.3.1a)

Kind regards,

Jeff, now it works. The stick is read and the GOTEK sees the .hfe file. Big thanks for now for the fast support.

Can you describe what went wrong with the older firmware and what you fixed in the newer one? Im curious :-)

But now: How can I do all my customizations regarding the disk format now for the drive? Do i have to put that all in via the .hfe file?

And I forgot: FW/HW is now:

FW: v4.2.0.1a
HW: 002 243-410

what i also noticed is that i can no longer reach the system monitor subitem.

This was probably an MCU identification issue. And yes the 4.2.0.1a fix this.
Which disk format do you want to emulate ?
