Errors reading disks converted from Kyroflux RAW to HFE (re: BAD CRC)

Post by sofakng »

I'm new to Kryoflux RAW and HxC, but I've found some test Kryoflux files I'm trying to convert to HFE to use on my IBM PC.

HxCFloppyEmulator (v2.5.6.6) for Windows appears to load the raw files successfully (84 tracks and 2 sides) but the Track Analyzer shows several tracks with BAD CRC. I don't know if this is normal (ie. copy protection) or if it indicates an actual problem.

I've created a log but it was 96 MB (!!!) after loading the image.

I've tried to export this to HFE but my IBM PC gives a disk read error.

Does this indicate a bad image or can something else be wrong? I've tried several test images (raw dumps) but none of them seem to convert or work properly.

Definitively a copy protection: Start a new sector in the data part of the previous one and probably a weakbit protection too with maybe a NFA protection.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, this disk has copy protection but I thought that was the advantage of the HFE format?

For example, this disk was ripped with Kyroflux but I wanted to use it on my Gotek with the protection still in tact.

Which firmware are you using on the Gotek ?
