How to identify parameters for a 3.5" drive?

Post by Staffan »

Hello,

I have a 3.5" drive in a test instrument (HP8510c Vector Network Analyzer) that I really would like to replace with an emulator.
Is there anywhere information on how to identify the drive that is there and what parameters it uses?
It can write and read a regular 1.4 MB MS-DOS disk, but it also uses a proprietary format (LIF) when creating a recovery disk. Not sure if it possibly uses another set of parameters in that case or not. From checking out other discussion groups, it seems like those disks can be read using an old 3.5" drive, but not using one of the USB drives.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Regards,
Staffan
