So Prince of Persia.sad is in reality a SDF file type. I have send a mail to Simon Owen (the official author of this format) for more details.
Manic Miner.sad is a SAD file with a header of 22 bytes (in fact this is a true SAD file -> 819222bytes) others sad files extension with a size of 819200bytes are in the MGT file format.
I need some details about this header.
I got an answer from Simon Owen:caver99 wrote:OK.
thats good you finaly got them.
So i will drop the SDF format. You should be able to found the EDSK version of Prince of persia (The software already support the EDSK).Hi Jean-François,
SDF was a temporary format I created for SAM Coupé disk images, before switching to EDSK (as also used for +3/CPC disks). Lemmings and Prince of Persia were the only 2 images ever publicly released in SDF format, and the Lemmings dump was later found to be missing a track! Both have since been re-dumped in EDSK format, and I've been hoping the SDF images would be forgotten. Unfortunately the TOSEC/Good collections make that difficult!
There are no public tools to create SDF images, and I'll be removing SDF support in the next release of SimCoupe (the SAM Coupé emulator), so I'd recommend you ignore it too. If you'd still like to know the details I'll dig them out for you.
For the SAD &MGT format i have just send to you a beta version of the software. "Manic Miner.sad" should works now.
I am waiting your feedback.
