First of all bare with me, I am by no means a floppy expert or even an Altos 886 expert.
Just trying to get the HxC working on this machine as I need to copy contents from the harddisk for save keeping as all software is hard to find for the Altos 886. The original floppydrive is broken.
For now I have used default settings with HxC and there is some activity (RA appears) but then it hangs for ever.
I am guessing I have to very specifically set some things but dont know where to start.
So the Altos gives me these options within Xenix 3.2f if I start the format tool :
# /usr/bin/format /dev/fd
XENIX FLOPPY DISK FORMAT rev 1.7
Choose one :
1 - Altos format /dev/fd096ds9
2 - IBM-AT (slow) format XENIX /dev/fd048ds9
3 - IBM-AT (fast) format XENIX /dev/fd096ds15
4 - Quit
I have tried the Altos format and the IBM-AT format with some images I found on the net but none do anything.
The original drive in it is a Panasonic JU-475-2 with these jumpers set :
DS1
DS
AT
RDY
BX (is this double speed?)
MM
DA
