Teletek Systemaster and Lotharek

Post by superpat »

Hi all,
I have a systemaster that I would like to run with a Lotharek
because I no longer have a 5.25 "bootable floppy disk.

I did a lot of testing, and I got a lot of help from Larry Kraemer.
But I would like to be sure that my connections are good,
systemaster side and terminal side, because the terminal does not display anything on power on.
I have already checked the voltages on the card, and they are good.
I have shorted pin 2 and 3 of the terminal (just to test) and when I type on the keyboard, I have a display.
I have a flat cable connecting the systemaster to a DB25 on the SIOA port and another on the SIOB

Here is what I would like to know:

1) how is the terminal connected?
By a flat or by an RS232 cable (2 on 3, 3 on 2, 7 on 7)
and perhaps a bridge between 4 and 5 and between 6,8,20?
It is a TATUNG TVT-4200.

2) Does the terminal need a setup to configure
its serial port (baudrate, parity and stop bit) ?

3) Where should the terminal connect? on SIOA or SIOB?

4) if the power supply of my card is good, and that the terminal is well connected,
without any floppy disk, is there a way to check that the card is working?
Should the screen display an error?
Is there access to the bios?
Is it possible to check certain points on the board? (scope or voltmeter)

5) Should the Lotharek be connected with a floppy câble (twisted) or not twisted?

6) Do Lotharek switches have to be on ID0A or ID1A?

Thank you

Patrick

After looking at the Schematic of the Teletek, it appears that it uses a couple of different signals from a
typical 8" FDC. Here is the Pinout:

Code: Select all

TELETEK 50 Pin Connector Lotharek	YD380

  Ground   Signal
   Pin      Pin       signal			Pin		Pin
  ------   ------    ----------
     1        2       /TG43	->		**
     3        4       not used
     5        6       not used
     7        8       /TG43	->
     9       10       /DS	<---------	* LOW=DS (H=SS)	* LOW=DS (H=SS)
    11       12       not used
    13       14       /SSO	--------->	32		32 (/SIDE SELECT)
    15       16       not used
    17       18       /HLD	--------->			4  (HL or IN USE)
    19       20       /IP	<---------	8		8  (/INDEX)
    21       22       /READY	<---------	34		34 (/READY)
    23       24       not used
    25       26       /DSELO	--------->	10		10 (/DSEL0)
    27       28       /DSELl	--------->	12		12 (/DSEL1)
    29       30       /DSEL2	--------->	14		14 (/DSEL2)
    31       32       /DSEL3	--------->			6  (/DSEL3)
    33       34       /DIR	--------->	18		18 (/DIR)
    35       36       /STEP	--------->	20		20 (/STEP)
    37       38       /WD	--------->	22		22 (/WRITE DATA)
    39       40       /WG	--------->	24		24 (/WRITE GATE)
    41       42       /TROO	<---------	26		26 (/TRACK 0)
    43       44       /WPRT	<---------	28		28 (/WRITE PROTECT)
    45       46       /RRD	<---------	30		30 (/READ DATA)
    47       48       not used
    49       50       /MOTOR	--------->	16		16 (MOTEA)

* Pin 10 of Computer's 50 Pin Connector needs to be able to made HIGH or LOW
since LOW=DS & HIGH=SS Floppy's being read.  You should use +5VDC to a 1K OHM
resistor to Pin 10 for the HIGH, then a switch or Jumper can be used to pull
it LOW. There will be 5ma through the resistor when Signal is jumpered LOW.

** Lotharek Pin 2 DSKCHG can be modified to READY by Jumper settings.
