Kawai K5000 format and standard 3.5 inch factor

Post by projectwoofer »

Hello all!

I joined this forum in order to ask if the Kawai K5000 format is going to be supported anytime soon? The K5000 reads and writes in .KA1 files for single patches and .KAA files for patch banks.

Moreover, the Kawai has the standard 3.5 inch slot so the device as it is now, will not fit. The Kawai's case is solid metal and there's no space for a bigger device or drilling holes. Will a 3.5 inch form factor ever be created?

Thanks a lot for any info!

Regarding the floppy disk, how are stored KA1/KAA files ?
Can you dump a K5000 floppy disk with this tool and send me the file image? :

Regarding the case, the board will fit if you remove the lcd screen (the lcd screen is detachable).
You have some examples on youtube :

But we are actually working to find a casing solution.

Thanks for your reply! Actually I just read on the K5000's manual that it uses high density DOS-formated floppy disks! Will this just mean that I could create DOS floppy disk images using your software, save the images on the SD card and then load the images to the Kawai from the HxC?

Yes exactly. If this is a dos floppy disk, the SDCard (and usb) HxC Floppy emulator should work with the K5000.
