Hello
I have a Yamaha Clavinova CVP-75. I choosed to replace the FDD to be able to run midi files directly from a USB stick.

I'm struggling to use a GOTEK to replace the FDD. Jeff helped me a lot to install the latest firmware (HxCFEUSB_V4_2_3_1a.UPD) on the Gotek. Thanks to him!

The HxC-menu is well displayed. When I put a USB Stick containing all the files in "HxCFloppyEmulator_DosDiskBrowser", adding a midi file (001.mid) to the image DSKA0001.HFE using DosDiskBrowser, once I insert the USB-stick in the GOTEK, the Yamaha keyboard ask me if I want to format the drive.

Unfortunately, if I accept to format the USB drive, I'm getting an Error Er 1 (sometimes, I'm also getting an "Er 2", saying that the drive (floppy) is write-protected.

Image

Any advice about:
- the right image (DSKA0000.HFE) should I use? I tried several "Yamaha" (but there is no CVP) in "QuickInstall_FloppyDiskImages"
- the file format I should use, to make it readable in the Clavinova? Midi files (.mid) did'nt seem to work. I read about .FIL ou .REV files, but I didn't found any ressource about how to transform a MIDI file to these files-extensions.
- I have old "Yamaha Disk Orchestra" floppy disks, with music on it. But I don't have the gear to be able to read them and analyse the file structure.

thanks in advance for the help

thanks for the reply.

In USB HxC Floppy Emulator Settings, I tried Emu Shugart and Generic Shugart. With both mode, the USB-Dongle is blinking while the GOTEK-Screen is showing "0 0 0". I can't write on the USB or read a midi file from it. I also can't format it.

Note: the Status in "USB HxC Floppy Emulator Settings" is set to "FTDI D2XX Driver not installed!". Is this a problem?(I don't have any FDD on my computer).

Thanks for the reply. I tried many thing these last weeks.

Also following settings:

Menu 0 > 00 (Auto)
Menu 0 > 17 (Yamaha QX3)

Menu 1 > 00 (Auto)
Menu 1 > 08 = GENERIC SHUGART DD
Menu 1 > 0C = EMU SHUGART

Looks like the Gotek is trying to read the key ("0 0 0" on display and the USB Stick-Led is constantly flashing).

But the USB stick remains not detected by the piano :(

I also bought a floppy to USB reader to be able to read my old floppies on Windows 10 or PopOS,

For whose who are interested: the Clavinova uses CVP_01.MDA and MUSIC.DIR files.
Unfortunately, I didn't find any program to open or convert them to midi.

I then copied all the files from the Floppy to an HFE disk image and copied the HFE-File on the USB-Stick, but the GOTEK is not recognising the USB-Stick.
