Did you ever get s900 files working? I have same unit with optional output board and version 2.2 OS. S900 files give error.
FYI the S900 conversion was fixed in the HxC software some weeks ago and converted S900 images to HFE with the SD HxC Floppy Emulator is working fine on the Oberheim DPX-1.

Reference (2020-05-26) :
https://sourceforge.net/p/hxcfloppyemu/code/2085/

Beta software having this fix :

EDIT : Another important thing to note about the S900 images support on the DPX-1 :

From the HxC2001 Facebook group :
Pl Haas wrote: ok i have figured out how it works. In order for you load a s900 image into the DPX - you need to use an image from the S900 where a sample is assigned to a S900 program. If you make a S900 disk image with samples only, it will create DE (Disk Error) message in the DPX. If you create an image with a program file and sample(s) but the samples are not assigned to the program, the image will load but the DPX will not respond to midi. Here is a S900 disk image with 3 samples, assigned to Midi channels1,2 and 3 https://we.tl/t-75OghEaDQl Many thanks once again for helping to get this working!!

Hi Jeff,

I have tried to convert Akai S900 images to use with my DPX (OS 2.2) with HxC v2.5.6.9.

E2, Prophet, Mirage work fine.

The akai .hfe images are recognized by the DPX and the process starts. Just when the loading seems to be done, I get a blank screen and the loading starts over again.

Here are images that I used:

I can finally confirm that I've got the Akai files to work with the HxC software 2.5.6.6! :D The solution is to treat the Akai IMG files as raw image files and to use the pre-defined disk layout for Akai S900/S950 DD floppies. The HFE files are 1.961 KB in size and my DPX-1 loads them without problems. There's no need to worry if the DPX-1 stops before it has read all 80 tracks - this just means that the disk was not full. It obviously only reads the tracks that have data on them.
Thanks, Jeff!!!

I'd be glad to help but what exactly is the problem? If the DPX doesn't load E2 files, I'm sure that the files are not in the correct format. I seem to remember that I had to convert my E2 disks (in .eii format) to the special DPX format before the DPX could read them. The reason for this is that "native" Emulator II disks are in 5.25" format and the DPX can read those disks only from the large disk drive, of course. The conversion tool is on the EMXP site and it's called E2DPX or something like that. Next the DPX files have to be converted to HFE. (This is just from memory - I've converted my disks a long time ago, so perhaps I don't remember exactly how I've done it...)

If you're still experiencing problems, I think it's better if you open a new thread. At the moment your problem is hidden in the Akai S900/P2000/Amiga threads...
