HxC @ LINN9000
HxC @ LINN9000
Hi forum,
I am new here, recently bought a HxC for my LINN900 and did a search in this forum but didn't find any related topic.
I installed the drive instead of the floppy, assembled such floppy cable from a wiki page that was recommended, copied the default cfg file and created an empty disc. The disc can be selected on the HxC, but when I pree load the LiNN reports "insert disc"
Anyone had success with a LINN or can help me?
I do electronics repair, know something about the emulation, but no expert in data transfer or programming these old cmb formats. Wish it would be a C64, haha...
Thanks for help.

I have added one working image to the quick install collection :

Re: HxC @ LINN9000
Thank you. I will test it soon. Do you may also have some hardware installation tips? Cable, Jumper settings? Someone mentioned different rpm?
Re: HxC @ LINN9000
The rpm setting come with the hfe image, so you have nothing to do.
the hardware side, you need to make an adapter, but according to your previous post you already have it.
Re: HxC @ LINN9000
Ah, ok. Thanks for the software settings then. But I have still no luck. I have done the adapter like in here:
http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?a ... 5068;image
http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc ... ernal-hxc/
Would be interesting if you can confirm.
I cannot make sure, that the linn controller itself is working, since it came without a working floppy.
Right now I can access your DSKA0000.hfe on the lotharek. But once its selected I don´t see any access like tracks are counting up or led action. So I assume that I still have a cable or controller connection problem. If you or any othere here have some more tips, very welcome;)
Thanks
JayDee

Re: HxC @ LINN9000
Thanks Jeff.
OK, I see my cable can't work. Before I make a new can you may check, answer the following?
THE LINN has some pins left which don't match the HxC (or HE10), which are
PIN 1 Motor ON
PIN 2 Sel0
PIN 4 Sel1
PIN14 Head Load
Shall I ignore these or pull them to VSS?
Also the HxC has some pins which aren't in use here which are:
PIN 2 DSKCHG
PIN 12,14,16,18 ID0-3
Pull them to VSS?

Re: HxC @ LINN9000
Thanks Jeff,
I still have no success (insert Floppy), any idea?
I try to find another Linn to check the controller card is working properly.
Cheers
Jürgen

DSKA0000.hfe
T:000/080 S:0

Re: HxC @ LINN9000
Meanwhile I can confirm that the controller card is working. And the HxC is also working. So its def. the cable, which I will double check now...
Re: HxC @ LINN9000
And today I can confirm its loading the sounds via HxC. Like described above;)
THANKS JEFF!

Re: HxC @ LINN9000
Hi DrJayWi,
Salut Jeff,
I'm about to order a HcX for my Forat9000/Linn9000.
Now here are the questions :
- which model should I order ?
- how does it fit with the existing hardware ?
- are there adaptators / 3D printed / other solutions to have a nice fit, as you can find for the SCSI2SD boards ?
- do you have the pin to pin match ? Since there's already a pin converter between the floppy control board and the original Sony drive in the 9000, do you have to plug from the board or from the converter ?
Regards,
Eric from France
