SOLVED: Yamaha QY700

Post by notoric »

A friendly hello to everyone,
I´m trying to get my new Lotharek HxC SD Floppy Emulator Rev.F to work in my Yamaha QY700 hardware sequencer:

- Firmware 1.8.2.40
- SD-Card SanDisk SDHC Class 4 32GB
- HxC Config & floppy images from "SDHxCFE_PC_1.44MB" Quick Install Disk Images
- original floppy drive EPSON SMD-1340-004-02 FF0605

The emulator is working, I can choose a floppy image ("DSKA0000.hfe"), but I am not able to safe or load anything. The files are not recognized by the QY700. I connected the emulator to the original ribbon cable which was inside the QY700.

Is there something I did wrong? Do I need a special Config setting? Wrong SD-Card? Need to change jumper settings on the emulator? Bad ribbon cable? :?

Help much appreciated! Greetings from Munich, Germany! :)
Alex

Okay, I sorted it out: It works! :D

The jumper needs to be on ID1A. There`s no problem in using the original floppy ribbon cable.

Above works fine, double-confirmed!

I wanted to download some demo disks from Yamaha, which is in a format called .Q7A, .Q7S and .Q7P.
.Q7A = All data
.Q7S = Song
.Q7P = Style

Would it be possible to add support for this disk formats in the HxC Floppy emulator software? [so you can use the batch converter]

I have attached an example.

If this machine use a dos format, just use the disk browser in the hxc software to add the q7x files to the image.

Disk Browser -> 1.44 MB DSHD FAT12 and the dump the files directly followed by exporting as .HFE works fine!

Ok fine ! You can use the DosDiskBrowser to have a faster way to edit these files :

https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_dri ... rowser.zip

Unpack the dll+exe to the root of the usb stick/sdcard. Then just start the software from the stick to edit your HFEs. the modifications are saved when you select another hfe or when you leave the software.
