Gotek with Korg Trinity, How do I start???

Hello to everyone,

I recenlty purchased a AT32F435 Gotek to replace a floppy unit from a Korg Trinity,

I've been reading the instructions but it seems a little unclear for me. I've formatted an usb stick with Fat32 system, and put the HXCSDFE.CFG file on root. Then I've read that for Korg you should put the files in IMG format in the same root location as I put the config file in there. I have some library sound files (I think that they have the SNG extension) so I make a IMG file with them, using IMGBURNR converter. Then I put the stick on the unit and powered on the Korg. The gotek seems to read the img because the name of it appeared on the OSD but it gives me the 31 ERROR.

I think that I'm a bit lost. Do I have to flash the unit with any firmware?? Do I have to make the image in some other way?

Hello,

You probably don't have the HxC firmware installed on this unit.

Hi, I've purchased de firmware and now when I start the unit it appears the message: (c)HxC2001 v5,1,3,1,a so I assume that the flashing and update is well done.

As I've read in some other forums I've configured the unit with System Family as Korg and Interface CFG as IBMPC_HD. Also i've configured it in normal mode and put that config file in the usb stick root (HXCSDFE.CFG).

I have some triton files in pcg and sng extensions and tried to make an image (*.img) from them as I've read in other posts. And then put them on the root of the usb but nothing happens. It shows the messages:

DSKA0000IMG
T:000/080 S:0

And

DSKA0000IMG
Choose a File

But i try to connect the triton or make selection and nothing seems to happens.

I'm a bit lost, any help will be very gratefully

Unpack the files present into this zip file to the usb stick root folder :

If the trinity shows NO Disk and the Gotek green light is on all the time, please reconnect the ribbon to the other way.

Let me know if this is working.
If not we will try to enable the "Non gated mode". (but this shouldn't be needed on the AT32F435.)

But the trinity doesn't stay steady green, although it doesn't read anything either.

So this seems to work now, isn't it ?

Are you using macOs or Windows or something else ?

On windows you can use a software like winimage.

You can also prepare / format the usb stick to directly add/files to the partitions :

Ok I think the problem I have now is that I don't know how to set up the usb for trinity to recognise it.

I will try with what you tell me.
But is there a step by step tutorial on how to prepare the usb with the exact programs and formats?

I used Rufus and it worked the first time.

The maximum .IMG partition size of 1.44MB is 16 parts, isn't it?

I ask this because the key is 32GB.... to take advantage of its capacity.

it is possible to add 128 partitions to the disk but i really don't recommend this because most operating systems don't behave very well with so much partitions.

You can also use files images but then you to use a software edit the images content.

One last thing... the OLED screen is upside down.
I suppose there is a way to turn it upside down, right?
I guess some menu option, but I can't find it.

You need to update to one "U100LQD" firmware. See the archive :
