FD1138T and FD1138C

Post by PepAlacant »

I have a PC-9821 SE that uses this type of floppy drives. They are 2mode FDD ( 640K - 1,2M ) 26pin

I would want to know if it's possible to connect HxC ( making an adaptor, of course ) to my PC-9821.

Thanks !

I'm reading about and it doesn't have VFO.

So I will need an extra board ? How much is this ? because I need HxC and the board, then.

If the original drive don't have the VFO, no extra VFO board is needed.

Hi, today I successfully installed an SD HxC Floppy Emulator on a NEC PC-9821As2 which originally use two FD1138T FDDs.I built a simple adapter from 26PIN of the FD1138T (using original FDD cable, header on motherboard has 30 pins) to 34PIN of the HxC, I took power from the HDD connector using a molex to berg cable (but if you want, you can take it also from PC-9821 FDD cable since +5v is present on pin 1-3-5).Pinout of FD1138T can be found on this document, I think this is valid also for other 26PIN FDDs that come without VFO like FD1138C (not 100% sure though, since there are variants of same model):
