I tried a handful of games. They all seem to boot fine from plain hfe disk conversions. That special a2dd format is unrecognized by the trackstar.

Unfortunately you were correct: the disks are all read only. I hope that can be fixed at some point...

I feel like writes SHOULD work in this situation, the Trackstar actually interfaces the 360kb PC floppy drive directly with a special cable splitter. I don't think any special apple 2 support is really NEEDED here.

Maybe the disk image I'm using has issues. I am going to try some more later. Getting write access to these apple II disks would be tremendous for me.

The firmware is checking the sector validity, so it must understand the incoming data. I will add an option to disable this checking in a next version. And i must check if the firmware can deal with the 12uS pulses spacing. It should, but i am currently not sure since this wasn't tested yet.

Is there a way to keep track of firmware changes other than the beta notes on the main download page?

Is it a reasonably safe assumption that whatever eventually fixes disk writes on HDDD a2-connected gotek will also fix writes in my scenario?

Got some minutes to add the needed flags for the GCR Apple II write support and to make some basic tests :

To get the firmware : https://hxc2001.com/custom_fw/

Set the "HFE blind write mode support (don't check/ignore sync words)" and "GCR encoding method write mode support" checkboxes and set "Read emulation pipeline buffer size" to "short".

This should enable the write support for you.

Magic Candle seems to save but there's nothing listed when I restore, and Telengard returns some "error 6" when saving using the firmware you provided to me earlier.

I'll go through the custom firmware portal and build a different one in case something's wrong.

I built custom firmware with the options you mentioned and still not saving so not sure what's up.

Are you sure you have updated the firmware ? (Please check the version number on the gotek)

Also please send me the hfe before and after the write attempt.

(c) HxC2001
v3.4.15.1a

Image names should be self-explanatory.

Pre-write is before anythign written, afterwrite is after a write attempt (game save).
