Atari STF problem?

Post by mau_rizio »

Hi, i don't know if this is a real problem or just my low experience with Atari ST computers.

I'm trying to run some demos in the st, but none of them works.
The st reads the first to two track then it reset with a flash of the monitor and continues to do this until i turn off.
No problem with an empty image, it appears in the tos and i can open it.

I don't know if i'm making something wrong or the stf cannot run those demos (i tried virtual escape, odd stuff, cuddly demos)

thank you
maurizio

I tested some games but they did not work.
I tested a compilation with crazy cars and enduro racer.
If i run main.prg i got tos error #35
if i run crazy.prg it come back to the tos without saying anything.
if i run enduro.prg it loads sumething, something shows on the monitor but it's all scrambled, perhapse becoause i have a b/w monitor?

Tested also on a megast4, same problems.

I've update to the last fw (3.0.0.1_UPD) and set the id0 to a.

I think i've converted the files in the right way but in the afternoon i will try again and i hope to find some original disks to test.

Can you try to copy a virtual floppy disk ?
The floppy cable is in good condition ?
Can you try another sdcard ?

Drag & drop the Floppy disk A: icon over the B: icon.

Test on the STF.
Cable seems to be ok.
To copy the disk i made an empty 720kb image.
I drop the floppy a (emulator with captan blood disk1 selected) on the b.
It ask to insert floppy b, i select the empty image and it says the disk are not the same format.
So i formatted the empty disk image as a double side disk, copy again, same error.
If i copy a single file it works.
Now i test a new sd card.

by b/w you means black and white high resolution screen ?

If yes yours problems are "normal" since most games / demos are for Low/Medium resolution screen. Try to connect your ST to a standard televisor via the scart.

Yes i mean that, it's a sm144 monitor.
I found out that my stf dosn't have the rf output, so how i connect to a tv?

I'm sorry to bother but it's my first experience with atari computers.

Yep :)
I'm searching for din13 connectors, do you know a good online shop?

I'm also thinking to get the cable from a sm124, i also have a sm144, but i'm not used to destroy old peripherals :)
