Amiga Floppy Manager freeze

Post by mauroxavier »

Hello.

First, I want to say I will try my best, because english isn't my native language and I don't like translators.

I take a HxC Floppy emulator Rev C today, and I read all disponible documentations (manual, dev etc).

I put the HxC inside my Amiga 600, and when I start to use the Floppy Manager, the screen lock without showing the file menu, only show the firmware version and credits. I tried everything:

- Mouse
- Keyboard
- Joystick
- NTSC / PAL configuration (in 3.1 ROM, using degrader etc)
- ROM 1.3
- Changed to DF1, DF0 etc
- Changed the cable
- Changed the config in HXCSDFE.CFG
- Formated the SD card in Linux, Windows, using fast format, low level format etc
- Used a SanDisk 2Gb SD anda Transcend 2Gb SD
- Used a beta firmware 1.6.2 (I see it in a post here in the forum)

When using only the emulator, without the manager, all things goes right, loading all games perfectly.

By now I downgraded to the stable firmware 1.6.0 only to archieve maximum security.

Please, I really tried everything, I see a person here in the forum with similar problem (but isn't the same). My screen is similar to this:
http://www.scarforlife.com/photo.JPG

But in my screen appears the firmware version.

The HxC turn on all the lights, and the red light blink very fast (reading the SD). In the LCD show this message:

Direct Access
LBA: 00000000 08

Thanks by any help.

And again, sorry about my english.

Thanks God, you are online... Here in brazil is 03:30 (!)... I here waiting for you ;)

Well, the jumper settings is exactly equal of the manual, when using the HxC as DF0 only. I tried EVERY jumper combination possible, using one and two jumpers.

The cable is not twisted, original from Amiga 600 floppy controller.

if the floppy cable is ok this is probably an issue with the NTSC version (never tested by myself).
Another point : can you try to put the original ROM ?

Something to try :

Start a workbench disk -> try to create a folder/copy files,...
power off -> restart -> is your modification still there ?

I tried this:

- Put the original ROM 2.05
- Booted without SD, in CLI I executed degrader to change system to PAL (50Hz system, 50Hz video), and apply a "SurviveResets". With the screen at PAL I put the SD in reboot and the system lock with a screen a little small than NTSC (because de PAL resolution)

All softwares that need PAL, works when using degrader... I hope isn't a incompatibility of HxC with a real NTSC hardware (my board is A600 rev 2B).

Yes, all modifications is there.

I made a custom startup-sequence to AUTOBOOT.hfe only for test, with a menu to choose PAL / NSTC with degrader, and put degrader and another commands for kick 1.3 in the disk image of floppy manager, works ok... But the manager still freeze.

By now I using only the original AUTOBOOT.hfe

I tried this now with images from Workbench 2.1 and 3.1 from original disks - I boot the amiga using that images (not from HD), created a folder "test", created a new text file, and moved a file from my HD to the workbench "floppy". Turned off the power source, and when powered on, all the files is there.

All worked perfectly.

PS.: By now I using the 1.6.2.1a firmware.

I tried now booting with Workbench 1.3 and Kick rom 1.3, all worked too. The filesystem is persistent, no corruptions.

I put buttons in my A600 case and finished the mod:
https://picasaweb.google.com/1137456044 ... torInterno

For the moment I will use the loading choosing manually the image disks, but this is a painful process only using the LCD screen.

I will be waiting your new requisitions to give reports to help you to find a fix or a answer for my problem.

Thanks.
