Amiga 1200 External Floppy port

Post by yurif74 »

Hello to all, i've a question:
i want to still use the internal DF0 floppy drive and i would use the SD floppy emulator as DF1 or better DF1 & DF2 using the external floppy connector.
i tryed over and over but without results.. signals _MTR0 and _SEL0 aren't on external port however there are 4 signals that aren't on internal connector: _SEL2, _SEL3, _MTRX AND _RESET
any suggestions?
may someone help me?
thank you in advance

i connected all signals, including _SEL1 (connected to pin 12) only signals _SEL0 and _MTR0 wasn't connected because they aren't on external floppy port, and i didn't connect the other four signal (_SEL2, _SEL3, _MTRX and _RESET) because i do not know where to connect them

_MTRX is the motor ON signal for all drives > _MTR1
_SEL2 and _SEL3 are the selection signals for DF2: and DF3:. Wire the one you need to _SEL0 ("A drive" on the HxC).

With this configuration :

A drive on HxC will be DF2:
B drive on HxC will be DF1:
Internal drive will be DF0:

no way :( on HxC side there is no _MTR1 signal, only _ID0 to _ID3
there are NO _SEL0 and _MTR0 signals coming out from amiga
there are _SEL1, _SEL2, SEL3 and _MTRX available

perhaps someone colud give me a schematics how to connect HxC to the external floppy port of amiga..

thank you again

Why you don't use SEL1 ? SEL1=DS1=ID1

thank you

There is only one signal for motor control on the Amiga IIRC (Still waiting for my emulator to arrive, so can't check this immediately).

Connect MTRx on the Amiga side to MTR0 on the HxC Emulator, keeping SEL1 connected to ID1. That should do the trick.

Personally, I'm putting mine in an old Amiga external drive case, so I shouldn't have to mess with the signals at all.

No. use only the sel line. The emulator need only an select line.
With the mtr line the disk change doesn't work.

Ahh, I see. Like I said, I don't have mine yet to try anything.

Using only _SEL1 line (connected to ID1) how should i set jumpers? DRIVE A or DRIVE B? assuming that i still have a DF0 drive working inside amiga

If you use only one virtual disk drive of the emulator only use DRIVE A.
