Is it the case the the Manager does not alter the date / time of the .CFG file when it writes to it? That would explain why the file does not appear to update.

The manager don't update the date/time.

Export the current slots to a text file, and reimport them from this text file later.
the operation take some times because the software check the cfg file informations ( image file position on the disk)

And it actually took age because the debug outputs are enabled in the version you are currently testing.
