HxC slim in Amiga CDTV

Post by Arnie »

Hi Jeff,

I'm trying (without success) to attach the slim to the CDTV using an external floppy drive board.

The CDTV has no internal connector for floppy drives therefore the first external drive connected is DF0:

The slim recognises the SD card is inserted then does nothing.

I have tried the same method for connecting to the A1200 external drive port, still nothing.

The external floppy drive board is known working as a regular internal floppy works on the CDTV, as does the original CDTV
external drive connected at the same time.

Can the slim be used as an external drive?

Arnie.

Hi Jeff,

"Does nothing" = just blinks it's little red eye at me.

I used the same settings for the Amiga internal drive, switch 1&6 but, with drive b turned off.

Anyway it's now working, don't know why, just glad it is.

Damn, I spoke too soon. I get read errors using the external connection but not with internal connection. :!: :?:

Now the button for disk selection does not work any more :(

Hi Jeff,

The board is powered from the external floppy drive connector.
I have also tried using the internal power supply from a Amiga 1200.

Only switch 1 or 5 work with the CDTV so I use 1. (I have also tried 5)

The board is detected as DF0: on the CDTV and DF1: on the Amiga 1200 when connected using the external port.

It starts to boot then I get a read error around block 800->900, then on cancelling the error message I get read errors around block 1500->1700. It then stops booting at the CLI prompt 1>.

Connected to a Amiga 1200 external port with either the internal floppy drive connected or disconnected, I get the same read errors.

Connected to the Amiga 1200 internal connector, everything works fine.

I know the external floppy board is working because it works OK with a standard internal Amiga floppy drive connected to it.

I'm using the latest firmware (2.1.2.24) and all disk images work when connected internally as DF0:

BTW, I have fixed the disk selector switch.

I bought it off of ebay. All I know is that it's from an Amiga External floppy drive.

Tried another connector from an external drive and this one works OK.

The old problem of only one drive showing has returned though.

Tried jumpers 1&6 and 2&5.

Good point, I don't really know.

It has a through port to connect another drive which works.

The next drive is DF1: so maybe you can't use 2 drives before this without making the through port DF2:?
