Gotek HxC + EMXP + Emu Emax I

Post by teevee »

I got an Emu Emax I (Non-HD and non-SE) and i´m trying to get my head around the EMXP concept (Link)

There is mentioned on the pages, that HxC is supported:
http://users.skynet.be/emxp/
http://users.skynet.be/emxp/HXC.htm
http://users.skynet.be/emxp/features.htm

I could imagine that most end-users are using the EMXP software together with the hardware gadget (EMuSer) to communicate samples/presets via RS422 from computer.

Does anyone have experience using this EMXP software together with Gotek HXC?

Example of what I want to do:
I want to forget the EMuSer gadget and only focus on the usage between PC (EMXP software and HxC emulator software) <-> Gotek HxC Floppy <-> Emu Emax I.

Using EMXP is necessary, due to the conclusion, which I made on my former Emu Emax I topic (Here). Because we cannot know which Emax OS disk/image is packed together inside the disk. EMXP should allow me to convert the downloaded disks into the format, which my Emu Emax I is compatible with (which should also convert the packed OS version/revision?) before I will be pack it into a .HFE image and save on USB stick.

Experiment/Test 1: (Download some random disks from same device)
1. Download floppies from here:
http://www.hermannseib.com/english/synt ... floppy.htm
2. Using EMXP to convert it to the right disk with correct Emu Emax I OS.
3. Using HxC Emulator Software to create a .hfe
4. Save on USB stick
5. Test if I’m able to rename presets, edit sample and save without errors

Experiment/Test 2: (Download some random disks from same device)
1. Download Emax Library images here:
http://www.silveriafamily.com/emax/emax2_downloads.html
1. Using EMXP to convert it to the right disk with correct Emu Emax I OS.
2. Using HxC Emulator Software to create a .hfe
3. Save on USB stick
4. Test if I’m able to rename presets, edit samples and save without errors.

Experiment/Test 3: (Download a .wav file and get it on a disk)
1. Download a .wav file here:
https://www.blumarten.com/product/jungl ... mple-pack/
2. Using EMXP to convert it to the right disk with correct Emu Emax I OS.
3. Using HxC Emulator Software to create a .hfe
4. Save on USB stick
5. Test if I’m able to rename presets, edit sample and save without errors.

Please correct me if i´m wrong or if I have misunderstood something or if you have any constructive inputs before I get started :D
