Roland DJ-70 MK1, Gotek HXC issues

Post by agent29 »

Hi,

I have installed a Gotek drive with HXC flashed and followed instructions listed here on the forums for the official HXC drive with DJ-70 compatibility success, omitting the reference to resistors. I cannot seem to get the Roland to recognize the HFE and or config file? The DJ-70 just displays "Please insert disk" The cable is correctly orientated and S0 is bridged. I have tried the 1.44mb pc and auto Shugart config modes.

I have also formatted a blank 1.44mb disk with the DJ-70 and then imported it using Rawrite then converted it to DSKA0000.HFE still to no avail, what am I missing? is the Gotek compatible with the DJ-70, S750, S770 series

Cheers

Then the floppy ribbon is probably not connected correctly. reconnect it to the other way (colored wire to the other side).

You are correct, it resolved part of the issue. my mistake was assuming the red line on the ribbon cable from the main board denoted PIN1 ! it didnt.

I have managed to convert a roland img from www.sgroup.ca and the DJ-70 reads it successfully, however if I format it within the DJ-70 and save the DJ-70 system (which it does without error), when I power cycle the DJ-70 it attempts to load the system counting down from 26. Once it reaches 0 it displays "floppy disk read error" followed by "please change disk". I have attempted to attach the files but they are too large to upload.

Just to add, I reinstalled the Chinon FZ-357 FDD into the DJ-70 formatted a disk, saved the system and re booted the DJ-70 and it loaded the system without issue. I then imported that disk with Rawrite onto the PC converted it with batch convert to HFE, then attempted the same with that image in the Gotek. It failed with the same error as before?

Could you make a picture of the Chinon FZ-357 jumpers ?

EDIT : Picture already there : http://torlus.com/floppy/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=916

The interface mode should be set to IBM PC . Please send me the HFE file to hxc2001 at hxc2001.com
Which firmware version are you using ?

The interface mode is indeed set to IBM PC, files have been sent.

FW 3082 is currently installed in the Gotek which I believe is the current stable release?

I have only just received your last email message regarding "img" files. My email client didn't notify me of any new emails.

I successfully loaded the unconverted system "img" from Rawrite by renaming it "DSKA0000.img"

I also successfully formatted the disk "img" within the DJ-70 and then saved the system to the "img".

Navigating back to the main disk menu on the DJ-70 it confirms the disk loaded is now a system disk, however if I remove the usb drive and reinsert it, or power cycle the DJ-70 the disk is then only recognised as "not a sound disk" I am sending you the "img" file.

I have not attempted hfe files as of yet.

yes retry with an 1.44MB hfe.

And what about DJ_70_BLANK.img ? Can you try to write something on this without formatting it ?
