How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
hi Jeff,
A problem with verify copy for instance with X-Copy.
There is always a Red 8 when trying to write from a real floppy to the USB stick to an image diskette. Whether it is an ADF, or an HFE diskette.
In addition, I wonder how to give an image diskette a writeprotect?
The disk itself which I have used is completely in order aloud check.
I use the latest firmware for Gotek Floppy Emulator.
Best regards,
Xiantrius

Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
which version exactly ?
for xcopy, enable the verify. (should not be needed with a decent usb stick)
to writeprotect images, set them as "read only"
Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
I use the following versions:
Autoboot v1.51a
HxC firmware v3.0.24.1a
On the topic of Writeprotect:
I once took an ADF running on the real Amiga and running WinUAE.
According to Workbench, WinUAE provides information:
Only readable.
According to Workbench, there is information in the Real Amiga:
Writable and readable.
You can also actually change and delete data on the floppy disk, even though the image itself is write-protected.
So the question where can I write this about the Gotek drive, as with a real floppy disk?
On the topic of X-Copy verify Copy:
What if the floppy disk has a small crack and I want to write the contents of the real floppy to an empty floppy disk as an ADF image. Failed to copy without verification with security.

Xiantrius

Just change the read only/writeable flag of the file image on Windows/Linux/MacOSX.Xiantrius wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2017 4:41 pmI use the following versions:

I will add the possibility to do this directly into the manager soon.
The verify option will just check that the data is correctly written on the destination image. this option will not change the read issue.
Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
The write protection is already chopped over Windows. Nevertheless I can with the Gotek drive the Virtual Diskette Amiga continue to describe and delete the contents.
Can not update the firmware, that it is checked with a query whether a write protection is in it and then accordingly the Amiga communicate so the disk is write-protected, or not?
Also, I noticed quite a while that the Gotek drive when I change a floppy image by push button change. That of the approximately 10 seconds to load the load. For a real floppy drive, the immediately after I inserted the diskette.

Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
yes i forgot to mention : if you are using the fileselector, you have set again the slot with the protected image.
Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
yes since i have added a preloading time i need to reduce another the ready delay.
Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
Where can I set the read-only mode in File Selector?
I can only add and remove image as far as I've seen.

Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
yes just do this. if the file is "read-only" the disk will be protected.
Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
I just tested it all again. I do not get the write protection. It can still be written to the floppy disk and I really wish that you can change it at any time. It can not be that you can simply write a floppy disk, if it has a write protection chop in it. The firmware and / or the fileselector ignores the setting apparently.
I would like zb. my original image disks can not be broken.
I hope that an update comes one day.
Since I would be very grateful imd others would certainly look forward to it.
In the WinUAE works, perfectly.

Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
This is already working.
I am not sure that all was understood.
In windows select the adf file on the usb stick -> properties -> Check "read only" -> Ok.
Eject properly the usb stick,
start the file selector on Amiga
select the adf file and reinsert it into one slot.
save & reboot.
when you select this slot, the disk should be now write protected. If not, you have maybe an hardware problem (bad floppy ribbon ?)
EDIT : Just retried on a stock A500 and this is working. What is you machine ? Any accelerator board ?

Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
I'm making screenshots now.
###############################################################
belongs both to the same ADF file.
###############################################################
With my real floppy drive, everything is as desired.
Since it works perfectly, because my Amiga has no problems with it.
As for my system.
I have an Amiga 1200 2mb Ram Commodore with Turbo Card Blizzard IV 68030 + 16mb expansion Ram.
I use a USB Gotek Floppy Emulator with the HxC firmware. I use this via DF0.
My second drive is a real floppy disk drive in DF1.
Workbench is 3.1.
The USB stick was ordered over Amigastore a few weeks ago and is still relatively new. I have the USB stick freshly formatted with FAT 32 and the necessary Amigaboot software with all the images on it.
What is the wrong on my hardware?

Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
Can you try to write something on this ADF files, then reboot and check that the written stuff still there ?
Re: How i can Writeprotect Image and other problem.
I have created a folder on the ADF and then rebooted the Amiga.
The folder is still there.
The same is also with the HFE.
I think that every known format is affected.
You can trust me, I can write to the disk anyway that she has a write protection according to Windows.
In WinUAE this works correctly.
