So creating a FAT16 partition on the USB-stick should solve most of the problems...
Yes maybe. Is the ST FAT16 100% compatible with the DOS version ? If so this worth a try ;)

Without driver, there is a limit of sector size 1024B, resulting in max. partition size of 32MB. But there are solutions to overcome this problem:

Actually there are HDD drivers that support FAT32, so this is also possible.

Firmware update ! :
18 March 2018: Firmware STM32 USB HxCFloppyEmulator v3.1.21.1a

- Indexed mode : Ignore file extension. You can now use any file extension
as long as the file is supported by the floppy emulation engine.
(Can be DSKA0000.HFE/IMG/DSK/ADF/ADL...)

- Acorn machines (*.ADL, *.ADM, *.ADF):
Sectors gap, interleave and tracks skew aligned to the real machine.

So, I have a question. I recently added an OLED display and rotary encoder with a button built in to my Gotek. I plan on mounting it under my existing floppy drive on my Amiga 1200. With just the rotary encoder accessible, how would one update firmware? Without have up/down buttons to press?
Thanks so much!
Ron

this is not supported by the bootloader, but i can probably add an "update" entry in the internal menu ! :)

Hi Jeff!
Is "READY signal from FDD necessary to provide a proper work of HxC floppy emulator software?

I'm playing with one 8" floppy, and better is to know in advance. This one doesn't provide native this signal.

for the emulator itself, no, but the target machine may need it.

The target machine is another story.
Thank you for the answer!

I wanted to answer you a long time ago - same as Jeff did, but I've realized you're asking for something different. If I understand you right, you want to use HxC Software to make an image of a physical disk in a vintage disk drive connected to the PC. Am I right? Ready signal is an output from the drive, so if target system doesn't use it, it woudn't matter if the emulator provides it or not.

I'm asking is software, which makes images, wants "ready" signal. I hope Jeff answered me about that.
