Index mode buttons feature request.

Post by mikeyp »

Hi, first thanks for this Gotek firmware. It's working really well and great support when I was having trouble flashing the boot loader. My fault, I didn't realise there was a difference between a RS232 serial adapter and a TTL serial adapter. It turns out you *must* have a TTL adapter.

The firmware is working well in index mode for me but it takes a very long time to cycle through the images. Could the next firmware work slightly differently please?

If it had the option to use the buttons to change the image same as the gotek firmware, right to change 1s, left to change 10s, both together to change 100s it would be much easier to use.

Thank you.

Hello,
I agree with the suggestion of mikeyp.
It is impossible to browse more as 50 disk without distroying rapidly the gotek switch.

another solution is to automaticly increase the position (for exemple one step each half second) after 2 second continious push down.
after 6 second increase of the increment speed x10 ,and after 12 second increase again speed x100..

same for the decrease button

releasing the button reset the cycle, and you can again push one step or restart slow up-down automatic counting

I too would like to see a similar feature, but I was thinking of something else as well.

Is there anyway to add support to go backward past 000? So if you press down at 000 it would go to 999, 567, 432, etc. or whatever the highest DSKA.HFE you have is?

In other words, reverse wrap-around.

Personally, I have LOTS of HFEs because I have entire sample CDs converted. If the display supports up to 999 there's no reason not to take advantage of that USB flash space, right? Besides, one of the advantages of floppy is that there's no limit to the amount of images you can have, whereas some devices can only hold so many banks on a SCSI drive.

I currently have 1070 HFE files across 2 memory sticks and my collection is growing.

I have 2 HxC flashed gotek drives I use for ROMs on SNES and MegaDrive.
