Yamaha Clavinova CVP97a with Gotek SFR1M44-U100K

Post by User2015 »

Hello,

i will replace my old 3.5 Floppy ( Mitsubishi MF353C-152MZ / PIN34=ready & PIN2 Disk Change )
inside of the Yamaha Clavinova CVP97a with Gotek SFR1M44-U100K.

1.Step - Bootloader to HxC - OK
2.Step - Config USB Stick with HXCSDFE.cfg ( indexed mode )
and midifiles in DSKA0000... DSKA00xx

Starting Clavinova - i can access to the midifiles in DSKA0000
switch to ( for example ) DSKA001 Display shows 001
but Clavinova dont recognize Diskchange

switch off Clavinova - swich on Clavinova -
than i can play the midifiles in DSKA0001

how to do- is the right way to playback the midi files with diskchange ?

Not to derail your thread, but I'm having a very similar problem with a Gotek (HxC firmware, of course) versus Yamaha TX16W. I believe it may be a READY signal issue instead of a diskchange issue, but I am unsure. If I arrive at a solution I will try to post here to see if it applies to your situation too.

I have a feeling there's something peculiar about older Yamaha stuff.

Edit: May have a solution for you.

I changed the interface type from Generic Shugart to Amiga in both the configuration file and every HFE file. It takes my Yamaha slightly longer (4-5 seconds) than a true floppy (almost instantly) to recognize a disk change, but it does!

I'm going to try some other interface types to see if it improves the signal time, but this is perfectly suitable, as is.

I hope this technique works for you as well!

Note: In my case (seems Yamaha screwed up on a few of their older floppy products) the floppy cable has to be flipped from the standard (stripe/pin 1 next to power connector) because it is flipped on the controller side; you're undoing the flip by re-flipping, if that makes sense.) The jumper on the Gotek needs to be nothing more than S0.

The amiga method didn`t work for me, the 880kb disks show only “FOR” for format

My old floppy had a ready signal on PIN34 and a disk change signal on PIN2.
Where in the software can I adjust these settings?
It doesn`t work with the interface set to “custom mode”. With interface mode “from HFE” everything works apart from disk change. Disk Change is only recognized after turning the piano off and on again
On the website with the supported Hardware I noticed that a Clavinova CVP-83S (similar model as my CVP-87a ) works with the Supported File Formats ( *.IMG/*.IMA/*.IMZ ) - MS DOS Floppy disk image -
How I can generate a virtual floppy disk image from midi files with the software?
Can anyone describe the method how to get the image files out of the midi files?
I`m not very familiar with the software....

For the software unpack this to the root of the usb stick :

for the disk change problem, check that your floppy ribbon is not damaged. Try another one if possible.

I'm having the same issues here with my CVP-55 Clavinova.
Can't change the disk without turning off and on the piano.
Tried some configurations on HxCFloppyEmulator but nothing.

This post is two years old, but I have similar Yamaha model and the same original Mitsubishi drive.
Any help? Thanks

Maybe is late, but you have to convert the MIDI files to .FIL format (Yamaha proprietary).
More info here http://www.carolrpt.com/musicsoftware.htm on The Disklavier Utilities Programs (dkvutils) section (MIDI2SEQ and ESEQ Explorer). Working for me.

Would be easier if you had an lcd/oled screen but you can try to tweak the interface mode into the config file with the hxc software :
sd settings window ->load config file-> into the sd hxc floppy emulator interface setting section change the drive a interface mode -> save config file.
Try Shugart, IBM PC HD, IBM PC DD...

Hi Daniel, I tried all supported formats. None of them solved the problem of detecting a disk change.

@Jeff, I showed you the behavior on my Clavinova long time ago in this thread: http://torlus.com/floppy/forum/viewtopi ... 6&start=15.
Do you have any other idea?

Frank

Retry with the very last firmware version (in wip folder) : you can now directly change the interface mode on the emulator without the need of any lcd screen.
overwrite your config file with the default indexed cfg file and try the interfaces modes :

This is in the menu 1:
Menu 1 - Interface mode :
00 = AUTO (DEFAULT)
01 = IBM PC DD
02 = IBM PC HD
03 = ATARI ST DD
04 = ATARI ST HD
05 = AMIGA DD
06 = AMIGA HD
07 = CPC DD
08 = GENERIC SHUGART DD
09 = IBMPC ED
0A = MSX2 DD
0B = C64 DD
0C = EMU SHUGART
0D = S950 DD
0E = S950 HD
0F = S900/S950 (Density Auto)
10 = PC DD/HD (Density Auto)

See the release note for more details.
