Gotek and i2c lcd display ?????

Post by lupo2110 »

Hi,

i have connected an i2c lcd display to an gotek usb floppy emulator.
Flashed newest Firmware USB HxCFloppyEmulator v3.0.3.1a.
I have connected 5v, ground on the programming connector on gotek
Also i have connected sda, scl with 4.7k ohms resistors on jumper j7 on gotek.
So the display goes on and nothing else happens.
I have tested without resistors with the same result.
Does the gotek emulator functions with i2c lcd display as mentioned in the firmware release notes txt ?????

Best regards

Please note that 2 additionnals 4.7Kohms pull up resistors (+5V) are needed on SCL & SDA.

So pull up +5v means: one end of 4.7k resistor to 5v and the other end to scl & sda connections ????
Is that right ???
I also have tested this but the same result: display goes on and no output ????????????

Any help appreciated ?????

I have taken this display:

i think its the same as in the txt mentioned.

Update:
With the help of jeff the sainsmart lcd display works fine.
An modified gotek firmware is needed to communicate with such display.
Thank you very much

Did you still use the pull up resistors?

I have a similar display but get the top line all switched on and the lower is all off.

This is my LCD

It is similar to yours as it uses the same PCF8574T

Yes pull up resistors have to be installed but this is needed to enhance the signal quality in the sda and scl lines.
Perhaps your display has a defect ?!

Am i supposed to have news about this ? ;)

I don't see the pull resistors on your picture and i don't see which I2C module you are using too, so i have no news since i don't have enough information to make any answers. So please make more pictures

Since I am no expert I am using such layout on a Stripboard for connecting the display:

It is working fine, but is it also right?

if the read wires is the resistors, yes this is correct.
