Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
Would be nice to make a video of the issue. The description is confusing.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
There is something to test into your email box.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
A video of what ? The bugs I found ? Well, it doesn't need a video.
The facts : I've 4 disk images on the USB stick.
Now, if I press the up button for a long time and not release it, here is what's happenning on the digits :
000, 001, 002, 003, 000, 001, 002, 003, 000, 001, 000 then the sequence stops (3-times cycling)
Now if I press the down button for a long time and not release it, here is what's happenning on the digits :
003, 002, 001, 000 then the sequence stops (no cycling)
For the debouncing problem, you can see something like that on the digits everytime you press the button (up or down) once :
- up 000, (001), 002 or 001, (002), 003, there are glitches.
- down 003, (002), 001 or 002, (001), 000, there are glitches.
That's all
What about the most important problem I have with my Gotek ? Did you find something wrong in the signals chronology or state changes that not occurred in the disk changed protocol ?

Great, I'll test that in the late afternoon and I'll keep you inform.Jeff wrote:There is something to test into your email box.

Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
I've just updated the Gotek drive with the firmware you sent to me. Well, it's worse than before. The synth doesn't refresh the files. I can't see any filenames on the synth. So, impossible to load anythingRamucho wrote:Great, I'll test that in the late afternoon and I'll keep you inform.Jeff wrote:There is something to test into your email box.

I use IBM PC 1.44MB mode. I also tried some other possibilities but no success for the moment.
No luck.
I see that the synth fdc is NEC uPD72070GF, datasheet is here http://www.datasheetarchive.com/dl/Scan ... 101535.pdf
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
Try this : force the drive selection (the jumper) to the ground and retry.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
Do you mean the DS1 jumper ? If so, it's already connected to ground.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
Not sure you understand me : Have you already permanently forced the drive selection with a wire between the vss/gnd and the selection signal (DS1, wire 12) ?Ramucho wrote:Do you mean the DS1 jumper ? If so, it's already connected to ground.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
Yeap !!! I did it and great news ! It's better ! It works but there are still some troubles with the green LED that always stays lit. Also, I need to touch the screen of the synth twice to make the refresh happens. But now, I can change the disk images and the synth can refresh when I change the image number. Great improvement ! Thanx Jeff, U R the best !Jeff wrote:Not sure you understand me : Have you already permanently forced the drive selection with a wire between the vss/gnd and the selection signal (DS1, wire 12) ?Ramucho wrote:Do you mean the DS1 jumper ? Tested :
Loading -> OK
Writing -> OK
Deleting -> OK
Formatting -> Fail !!!
Just another thing, normally when I insert a floppy and change it to another one, the synth always indicates "Medium changed" and I must press "OK". Now, I don't see that anymore.
What I did is to remove the jumper (DS1) on the Gotek and connect a wire between GND and pin 12 of the Gotek connector.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
To go further, I've tried something that made the synth react as it should do. I mean, it can now display the message "Medium changed".
What I did is to make a positive pulse on pin 12 :
1 - Select the image to load
2 - Remove the wire on pin 12 (high)
3 - Put it back again on pin 12 (low)
4 - Refresh the files by touching the screen
And that's all !!
Now, how to make that automatically ?

Which interface mode are you using ?Ramucho wrote:To go further, I've tried something that made the synth react as it should do. I mean, it can now display the message "Medium changed".

Can you try this : remove the usb stick, wait some second (4/5s) and reinsert it. is there a media change message ?
Btw can you try the previous version firmware (the current one available for everyone) ? It should work the same.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
I tried IBM PC 1.44MB then switched to auto and it was working the same (Shugart was working too). I'll try others this afternoon and original firmware too. I'll tell youJeff wrote:Which interface mode are you using ?Ramucho wrote:To go further, I've tried something that made the synth react as it should do. But, forcing the drive selection to 0 is not correct functionnaly speaking.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
Try the usb stick ejection trick before.
Re: Korg Trinity + Gotek with HxC problem
It works, well. No refresh problemJeff wrote:Try the usb stick ejection trick before.
Now I'm trying with the original firmware...and, same behaviour as the modified firmware you sent to me.
Changing the mode doesn't change anything, everything runs the same way.
I retry to format. The fact is that it works, but it's very very very very long ! Saving too ! It's really slower than a real floppy. Oops !
Deleting and loading are quite normal.

Hi,
@jeff, have a look here about how to detect a disk changed, maybe it helps

Some chronograms and timings in this documentation :
