Gotek burn hot arm chip

hi
recently i have found an gotek hxc , in atari stf dead

gotek turn on, but lcd stay on 000
i opened and arm chip is verry hot

can you help me ?

remove the gotek from the ST.
Check the +5V voltage in the ST and check the 3.3V LDO regulator.

i only plug in 5v
arm is very hot

Have you the necessary stuff to diagnose the problem ? (a voltmeter).
If not i recommend you to get another gotek and avoid to plug it into this ST.

yes at voltmeter i have LT1117 4.8V in exit
ARM is really hot and now nothing on lcd he died

i go to bought another gotek

Take care that pin 1 of the ribbon cable goes to the pin 1 on Gotek... original STfm floppy drive had this connector upside down, so you either have to mount Gotek upside down or twist the ribbon cable. If you plug the cable as it was in original FDD, you are shorting all I/O pins to GND, what may damage the STM chip. Look at the color stripe on a ribbon cable, and not at a notch on the plug.
