I have a Roland S-550 that blows fuse F3 (4A, 125V) whenever the unit is turned on with either an HxC or Gotek emulator is connected. The Molex connector on the floppy power cable prevents me from plugging it in the wrong way. I've tried disconnecting the SCSI board to reduce the power load, but this doesn't help. The unit powers up perfectly when the original floppy drive is connected.
Any ideas as to what could be going wrong here?

You are doing a very bad thing, but hard to say what without any picture...ghunter wrote: Any ideas as to what could be going wrong here?
Re: S-550 Blowing Fuse
On this machine, the +5V power supply is present into the floppy ribbon.
You blow fuse because you have connected the floppy ribbon to the wrong way. The colored wire should be near the power connector.

Re: S-550 Blowing Fuse
That worked perfectly, I'll post notes to the Roland Sampler groups.
Thank you again!
