I am having issues loading some samples. I used the image Empty_Disk_000.hfe from QuickInstall_FloppyDiskImages in the downloads section on a freshly formatted SanDisk 4GB SDHC Card. After S950 boots I try to load the samples that are on that image. Most load but a few give me "Bad data from disk" consistently. I tried saving a few samples of my own and it seems short samples save fine (2000ms @ 19200) and load, just larger samples don't load. I consistently get the drive directory. I changed R18 to 4.7K and I am using the original floppy cable for testing. My Hxc is at the latest firmware. The sampler is running 1.0 operating system. Anyone else using this operating system on their S950 and Hxc working ok?

Your Akai is an S950 ? If yes you should apply the resistor mod.

Have you tried another SDCard (another brand !) ?

Can you send me the HFE file that you are using ?

Hey Jeff,

I am having this issue. I did the 2.2k resistor mod, updated the rev C 3.5" to the newest firmware, I tried 2 different SD cards. a 2GB Sony class 4 and a 256mb Lexar. I used the S950 images from your "QuickInstall_FloppyDiskImages.zip" file. Both cards display "Oops! Disk is unprepared. You must format it." whenever I attempt to Load one of the images.

Your thoughts?

Thanks,

What about the jumper setting, the HxC Floppy interface mode, the HxC led behaviour, the floppy cable connection ?

Jumper is on ID0A

The HXC config file was the one that came with the s950 images

Floppy Cable has been reversed on the board (it did not work when it was in its normal position)

The LED's are lighting up/reacting as if they are responding to the disk commands. The file is just not loading.

So I also tried the Jomox image and the JaneDoe image also mentioned on this thread. Both images begin to load but at a certain point during the load, they fail and give the error message "Oops! Bad data from disk".

Can you double check your mod ? it look likes there are something wrong with it.

ok, I checked my mod (although I had a friend with much more advanced electronics skills than I install it for me). I am geting 5volts and 12 volts from the floppy power connector as it should. as for (AC voltage) I have 10mV ripple on the 5volt side and 25mV ripple on the 12 volts side which, to my understanding should be totally acceptable. Co-incidentally, I actually own 2 s950's. One has the mod, the other does not. On the unmodded s950, the images behave exactly the same. the Jomox image loads to T:040/080 and then gives the error. The JaneDoe image loads to T:014/080. Both do the exact same thing every time from different brand new cards.

Any ideas?
