Hi,
I have just replaced the floppy disk drive on my Akai S20 for a Gotek HxC USB Floppy Emulator v3.4.16.4a with OLED display. I am using a SanDisk 32GB USB stick. I have formatted the USB stick as FAT32 using the disk utility on my mac and copied the 'HXCSDFE.CFG' file to the root of the USB. I've also copied the 'emptyfat.img' file to the root of the USB stick but I'm confused about how to correctly mount a disk image. Can somebody please explain how to do this correctly please? The sampler does not recognise the USB stick at the moment.
Many thanks in advance.
Ian

Re: Akai S20 upgrade with Gotek USB Floppy emulator
OLED screen says
“EMPTYFAT.IMG
T:000/080 S:0
And when I push the rotary button it changes to:
“ EMPTYFAT.IMG
Choose a file”
“EMPTYFAT.IMG
T:000/080 S:0
And when I push the rotary button it changes to:
“ EMPTYFAT.IMG
Choose a file”
Re: Akai S20 upgrade with Gotek USB Floppy emulator
ok i think you just need to change the emulator interface mode. Remove the stick, press both buttons, select "Interface cfg" and choose the Akai S950 HD mode.
Re: Akai S20 upgrade with Gotek USB Floppy emulator
Ok. I’ve set the “interface cfg” mode to S950 HD. Now when I put the USB stick back in the OLED display reads “no file image found”
Re: Akai S20 upgrade with Gotek USB Floppy emulator
are you sure you have selected "interface cfg" ?
Please retry : clear the internal settings (press both buttons-> choose "clear eeprom" -> "yes"
then retry to read the usb stick. If you can select the image then please retry the to set the interface mode to S950 HD.

Instructions update (ignore the previous post) :
-> Make sure you have the latest firmware (v3.4.16.4a at present time). Otherwise update the firmware :
https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_dri ... rmware.zip
-> Make sure that the jumper is set to S0 (any other jumper removed).
-> Remove the stick
-> Press both buttons.
-> Choose "Clear settings" then "Clear EEPROM"
-> Press both buttons.
-> Choose "System Family" then "Akai".
Unpack and copy the attached IMG file to the stick.
Insert the stick in the emulator and select the S20 file image. Try to write and read back something.

Success!
Followed your instructions then copied the file that you sent onto the USB stick put it into the emulator and successfully recorded a sample, saved it then loaded it up again. I'm delighted! Thanks very much for helping me with this. Your support for this device has been excellent.
