AKAI S1100?

Post by CAdair »

Hi,
Im trying to get a USB emulator into an S1100.
All the support I can see is for S01 and S950.
Is HxC compatible with S1100?
Thank you

So from what I understand I have to:

a) buy an HxC flashed Gotek drive
or b) flash my own Gotek which means
buy a USB-LVTTL converter, wire it to the Gotek, license the bootloder from HxC, copy the firmware onto the Gotek

and then copy the files onto USB which menas
1) buy a USB floppy reader, format a floppy in the s1100, read it into HxCFloppyEmulator, dump the image onto usb stick, create a blank s950 disk in HxC and dump that onto USB too.

or 2) use the s950 files to dump onto the USB stick (https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_driv ... Images.zip).

Am I missing anything here?

Thank You

Received the Hxc formatted Gotek today and tried the following:

formatted the USB stick (Kingston 16GB) to Fat32 and dumped the s950 files onto it.
There are 32 files (DISKA0000.HFE to DISKA00030.HFE plus a HXCSDFE.CFG file)
The drive is connected with scsi flipped, the jumper is on "SO", and powering up fine. The green light is constantly lit. Red is off.
S1100 says "trying other density..." then "UNREADABLE FORMAT ! or unformatted ?"

when I try to format it it says "DISK IS WRITE PROTECTED !"

after a couple more hrs research, asking a friend, and speaking to Forat here in LA, it looks like the way to go is this: http://www.artmix.com/CF_SCSI_RaizinMonster.html

scsi to cf
its faster and more stable

unless theres a reply on here ill most likely be returning the gotek.

You have not connected the floppy ribbon in the right way.
Avoid to do this with the scsi or you will burn the whole machine .

I really hope that you don't have connected the drive to the scsi interface... a floppy drive (emulator or not) must be connected to the floppy port.

what is displayed on the gotek screen ?

Floppy emulator connected straight
USB flash drive needs to be formatted to "FAT" "master boot partition"
It is loading with the files you sent me but reads "s900 DISK ! use only for reading"
It starts to load up and unscramble the samples and programs "LIKED " etc and then goes to "ERROR bad floppy disk data !" and the s1100 completely freezes.

quick install s900 and s950 read "NO DISK !"

some progress!
