AKAI S900

Post by lukebretthauer »

I have a Akai s900 i would like to try out a HxC Emulator on, i noticed this is possible through reading what i could find..

My question is, what model is best suited, and easiest to install/work with for this particular sampler?

I am rather excited about this product as i have an Emu Emax 1, a Emu SP1200 and an Ensoniq EPS that i would love to have these drives installed on.

But let's kick it off with the Akai s900 first.. also i am a mac user and have no way of making my own floppies at the moment.

Thanks in advance!

Luke

Hi Jeff,

Is that a HxC drive that actually fits the larger drive space on the s900? Or is it a gap above the drive?

This is the same as my setup here, im just sick of floppies!

Looks like this is the way to go.

Did you have any problems installing etc?

Luke.

Hi guys,

I have my drive installed and recognized in the S900. Can someone explain how to step by step in detail to create Floppy Images.

I'll be using a PC with Windows XP (or 98). I have Adisk, Omniflop, the HxC software (kill me) and Total Commander.

I have a 3.5" drive and a SD card reader on this computer.

I need a step by step, with every single instruction (even the smallest little detail) spelled out.
This will help lots of people I'm sure!

Thanks in advance.
Best,
_BT

Hi Jeff,

Again what would be helpful is a step by step (with every detail) list of how to do this. I have not made a image with Omniflop before but I have it and I have it installed properly. This list will be helpful for everyone.

Step 1:
1. Sit down at your computer and insert the 3.5 floppy disk, launch Omniflop?
Step 2-x
........

Thanks!

I save data from my disks of Akai S900 as the images (*.AKAI files) using Omniflop on the PC. Can I use them later when replacing a floppy drive on the HxC-emulator in Akai S900?

Hi Jeff, this is my first post in the forum. I have succesfully installed a Gotek floppy emulator in my Akai S900, I've tried it with a usb key with 20 empty floppy images and the indexed mode config file; one of the images now contains a sample and a program which are working with no problems. I have plenty of disk images I want to convert in .hfe format. Do you know the parameters to get those images working? I've read somewhere the parameters are different from those for the S950, but I haven't found those for the S900...

Thanks in advance :)

Just use the S900 DD predefined layout format into the hxc software. You can also use the batch converter (Select tread input files as RAW files)
