The only signal line I think 'might' be questionable is pin#1. That's NOT currently connected (as per the 4145B examples).

So the answer is no? Please update the firmware ! :jwpgroup wrote:I ordered the board end Jan, it arrived mid Feb.Jeff wrote:If you are 100% sure that the drive rotate at 600RPM. Don't touch anything on my image and cfg file, it is set correctly.

Re: HP 1650A Logic Analyser
There is a huge gap between the specification and the reality. Many drive have some specific and undocumented modifications.jwpgroup wrote:Here is the signal and timing specs...
Please have a look to your drive :
If it made ~5 rotations per second : 300 RPM.
If it made ~6 rotations per second : 360 RPM.
If it made ~10 rotations per second : 600 RPM.
Funny thing into the documentation at the READY signal description :
The index period of the disk motor settles within 200msec +/-2.5%.
Probably a typo but 200ms = 300 RPM
Re: HP 1650A Logic Analyser
In this case please use the attached cfg file. (DISKCHANGE signal disabled).jwpgroup wrote:The only signal line I think 'might' be questionable is pin#1. That's NOT currently connected (as per the 4145B examples).

Re: HP 1650A Logic Analyser
Hi Jeff
it's a different one again. I looked at that (and all the other HP/LIF related threads) prior to posting.
I 'think' that the 4145B thread is the most relevant, purely because the drive is the same (a Sony MP-F52W-30). Having said that, the formatting is very different as the 4145B uses 256 byte sectors where as the 1650A is 1024. I've asked a repair co that specialise in the 4145B to let me know what the FDC is and they 'think' (from memory only) it's some kind of Western Digital device, which would make it again different from the 1650A (which is based on a Standard Microsystems FDC 9793).
I've had a busy week, so I've not been able to do anything since we last spoke, but things should quieten down tomorrow/over the weekend.
Can I ask.... are the files you've sent recently based on the disk I snail mailed you or on the original data exchanged via email?
Let me know

Re: HP 1650A Logic Analyser
Hi Jeff
OK, I downloaded the latest firmware.
When I installed it I got a regular 10 flashes and a 2 second pause - is that OK? (nothing above 8 is listed?!?).
I then tried the latest files you sent and it's still the same.
