Anilam 3000M/3300MK

Post by Fresh Fabrications »

Hello Forum and Jeff,

I am NOT very good with computers or understanding tech and hope you can help me with my conscious incompetence.

I have an Anilam 3000M CNC Controller on my Milling Machine which currently uses a totally standard Sony 3.5" floppy drive but find the task of endlessly loading multiple floppy's with program files tedious. I have purchased your F-type SD floppy emulator to replace the Sony drive and eliminate the hassle.

I have read the instructions several times but I'm ashamed to say am finding the overall picture a little overwhelming and confusing and I just want to get running SIMPLY and ASAP before another big job comes in and eats my time.

I think I understand correctly that I have to do several things to get my SDF Emulator to function properly and to be able to load multiple floppy's onto the SD card and brows them as partitions of the SD (1.44mb), first I need the correct settings on the "Switch Settings" for the Drives ID Selector in the emulator, Second I need to get the correct .HFE loaded to the Root of the SD (How?), then Thirdly I need to create 1.44mb file partitions in the SD that will appear to the Anilam controller as is a floppy disc?

Is this correct or do I have it wrong?

what I know about my Anilam controller:-

I can take any post processed file (.M for Anilam) from my Laptop (Dell 7720) onto a standard 3.5" floppy via my USB Floppy drive and the Anilam 3000M reads it fine, I have made no special settings, I use Windows 8 and use notepad to place the standard text Conversational G-code on the 3.5" disc.

The 3000M controller is a DOS bases system.

There are NO jumpers on the Controllers Sony floppy drive.

The ribbon cable from the 3000M controllers motherboard has some of the cables twisted at the Drive end but the red appears to be standard position.

I think I saw in the controllers file system settings that the Drive A (Floppy Drive) is FAT16 ?! But as I have made no settings and just copied windows Notebook files of my programs direct to floppy and had no problem wonder if this matters?

PLEASE HELP JEFF

I know I am probably asking stupid or silly questions but I'm not at all computer literate, I am however pretty good at all other things, I could just really do with some step by step tasks to get me going, and support with config etc.

Kind regards,

Jon Davis

Hi,

Regarding your usage, i recommend you to just unpack all these files at the root of the SDCard :

https://hxc2001.com/download/floppy_driv ... rowser.zip
(all files must be at the root of the SD!)

Once done just launch the software DosDiskBrowser.exe on the PC from the SD to add files to the images.

On the emulator, just insert the sd card and select the right file with the buttons.

That's all.

About the switch setting, if the drive is connected after the twisted part, you need to set ID1-A to ON (other to OFF). If connected on a non twisted part set ID2-A to ON.
if this doesn't work you can try to set ID0-A (1) + ID1-A (2) + ID2-A (3) +ID0-A (4) to ON in the same time.
But to be sure please tell me what is the old disk drive model (a picture may help).

Basically last time I attempted to get this to work I installed the files you sent to the root of the SD card using my laptop PC, then installed the unit in the controller as per photos, installed the SD card, Powered up the machine and checked the drive powered up properly.

The emulator turns on OK, I then removed the SD safely, placed a file on the SD and placed the SD back in the emulator.

I then went into the controller and accessed drive A, the drive designation for the old floppy, the control unit tried to read but froze up for 15 minutes and couldn't see a file at all.

I then did the same with all the switch combinations you suggested, Powering off and on again, and the control couldn't read the emulator or file.

I currently have a working floppy drive with no jumpers visible from exterior see pictures.

please help,

Jon.

The floppy ribbon is not connected correctly : the red write should be at the other side, at the pin 1.
Reconnect it correctly.
