PM3585 logic analyzer

Post by IanJ »

Hi all,

Am trying to get my SDXCFESlim working with my PM3585 logic analyzer. I have the original disk (1.44mb floppy, PC readable) that comes with the PM3585, so simply copied the files to an HFE image (IBM PC 1.44mb).

No matter what I do with the dip switches I just can't get the the PM3585 to load the files.

I have used the emulator on a Sinclair QL, so I know the basics of operation etc.

BTW, I have seen a YT video of somebody else using a different emulator on a PM3585 successfully:

Anyone?

Ian.

What is the old drive model and brand and jumper setting ?

Have you tried to use the shugart interface mode ?

I have tried all manner of dip switch settings. The drive is an Epson SMD-300, links on back of drive as follows:-

2&3 linked = 2M mode set by (HDI) inp.
4&5 linked = Mode switched internally
14&15 linked = Drive selected by DS0

I've uploaded my image here:-

When I boot the PM3585 it just says no file "system" on this diskette.

I have also just tried creating an image from a dump of the original floppy (using an old laptop with a real floppy drive).......but no luck.

Your cfg files are not in indexed mode ... quite strange for a Slim usage.
+ The floppy Dump image file name is not right for the indexed mode : should be DSKA0000.HFE...

switch should be ID0-A (1)

Yep, I just zipped up the exported image before renaming for the SD card. I'll look at the indexed mode issue. Thanks.

Just got it fixed........

I enabled indexed mode and then tried the exported image from my original floppy but that never worked, it clicks away trying to access the files but no go.
I then tried indexed mode with my manually made up image from earlier and woohoo she now boots fine.

SW1 on only.

Thanks for your help. You can add "Philips PM3585 200MHz Logic Analyzer" to your list of compatible hardware.
